Less, but better.

Residential and civic architecture designed with restraint and built to last. We are interested in daylight, in buildings that are cheap to run, and in not doing more than the site asks for.

The practice

Six people in one room above a bakery. We take on roughly eight projects a year, which is fewer than we could, and means the person you meet at the first appointment is the person who draws it.

We do not have a house style. We have a set of preoccupations — daylight, thermal performance, the honest use of a small budget — and those tend to produce buildings that look calm.

How we work

01
Feasibility

A fixed fee to establish whether the thing you want is possible, affordable and likely to get permission. Some people stop here, and that is a good outcome.

02
Concept and planning

Drawings, a model, and the application. We handle the consultation and the officers.

03
Technical design

The package a builder can price accurately, which is the single biggest lever on what it ends up costing.

04
On site

Fortnightly visits, valuations, and somebody on your side when the unexpected turns up. It always does.

Tell us about the site.

Even a rough sketch and a postcode is enough for a first conversation. Feasibility work is a fixed fee and we will tell you early if we think it is a bad idea.
